Based at High Wycombe, Bucks.NonN The task is to assist with HR, Health and Safety and contract management for SafeSkys’ bird control and wildlife management contracts on RAF Stations and civil airports in England, Scotland and Wales. You need to hold a full driving licence. Ideally you will have RAF experience as a WO or junior officer, good people skills and a shotgun and firearms certificate. Full training will be given. CAA Air Traffic Control Officers
SafeSkys has recenlty been awarded two contracts to provide CAA rated ATCO's to two UK airports. One airport employs ADV/ADI & APP, the other is ADV/ADI only.
For the ADV/ADI posts, which are at Wycombe Air Park (Booker), we have an immediate vacancy for a SATCO and an ATCO. For the SATCO post, ideally you will hold validated ADV/ADI ratings, a Meteorological Observers Certificate plus an OJTI Certificate. For the ATCO post you will hold validated ADV/ADI ratings and ideally a Meteorological Observers Certificate, plus an OJTI Certificate. Some experience of working in a busy environment is essential and there are promotion opportunities with sponsored training to move on to our other airports as vacancies become available.

SafeSkys manages a scheme called ControllerLease which provides short notice ATCOs to airports for long term sickness relief, pregnancy cover and any other short term requirement. Sometimes these temporary appointments become full time.
If you are available between jobs or maybe you have just retired, would you like to register your availability with SafeSkys for the ControllerLease data base. Remuneration normally includes travel and accommodation costs.
Current Vacancies in Bird Control and Wildlife Management
Part Time bird and wildlife controller - RAF Leuchars, Scotland.
SafeSkys has a vacancy starting immediatley for a part time bird and wildlife control operator at RAF Leuchars, near St Andrews, Fife. You would be trained and would provide relief for the full time staff as and when required. About 10-20 hours per month at £7.50 per hour. The role would be to staff a bird and wildlife control unit as part of a team. Your responsibility would be to patrol the airfield in a 4WD vehicle to deter birds and wildlife that could cause a hazard to aircraft. You will need to have a full driivng licence, be colour perception safe and able to hold a shotgun licence issued by the local police. No age limits or formal qualifications are required as full training will be provided. This would suit a retired person, anyone with spare time on their hands or ex-service persons, especially those with an interest in ornathology, wildlife and the outdoors.
This would not suit anyone who already has a job or seeking full time employment.
