SafeSkys is an Airport Service Company founded in 1993 to provide Air Traffic Control Services, Bird Control Services, ATC electronic engineering, and airport contracted services. The company currently employs staff at airports throughout the UK and Europe. SafeSkys has contracts with the UK MoD and Regional Airports.
Safeskys manages 2 distinct divisions:
- Air Traffic Control Services. We are an ANSP and plan to grow the ATC Services Division.
- Bird Control. Increasingly we are challenging existing providers of 13 km bird safety surveys and providing the tri-annual site surveys. Our Training College has trained bird controllers for 74 European Airports and we provide Bird Control Units to the RAF and civil airports.
The Head Office is in High Wycombe with Regional Offices in Scotland, Germany, Exeter, Anglesey, Oxford, Gatwick and Boston. SafeSkys retains a database of available Air Traffic Control Officers (ATCOs) and ATC Engineers and provides ATCOs, Bird Control Operators, ATC Engineers and airport services to UK and European Airports. SafeSkys manages EURATCO, the only European Recruitment Agency for ATCOs. SafeSkys provides bird control to UK airports, trains bird controllers for 74 airports and maintains ATC navaid/communications on three airports. SafeSkys provides the ground school training to ab-initio pilots on the Hawk aircraft at No 4 Flying Training School, Royal Air Force Valley in Anglesey, North Wales. SafeSkys provides CAA Air Traffic Controllers and ATC Engineering Services at North Denes near Gt Yarmouth.
SafeSkys is consulted by the UK Civil Aviation Authority Safety Regulation Group (CAA-SRG) on issues which affect ATC and was invited by the Air Transport Users Council (AUC) and the EC to comment on the UK Government's proposal to privatise National Air Traffic Services (NATS). Safeskys is recognised by the UK Civil Aviation Authority and Eurocontrol, was a founder member of the British Airports Group (BAG) & the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC). SafeSkys is an associate member of the Airport Operators Association (AOA) and it's executives are members of the Guild of Air Traffic Control Officers (GATCO).
SAFESKYS' management includes UK CAA licensed ATCOs. SafeSkys retains extensive links at all levels throughout the Aviation industry. SAFESKYS' staff have experience of formulating and managing contracts for International Airports, Regional Airports, busy GA airfields and military flying operations. SafeSkys manages 'ControllerLease' which is designed to provide short or long term ATC staff to cover temporary shortages at an airport caused, for example, by seasonal peaks, illness, pregnancy, sudden attrition, or relief whilst sourcing permanent staff.
